ミヅガメノ スヤキナラブヤ ヒデリヅユ

– in the locality of famous ceramic
– a pottery is drying giant unglazed water-jugs
– in front of his biscuit kiln
– in the open-air of such a dry rainy season
– and looks up into the blue sky
– as shading his eyes with his right hand
– and wiping away the sweat with his left hand
– that are wore Gun-Te
[軍手 (lit. he army-hands):thick cotton work gloves
for Japanese soldiers of the modern age]   

みずがめの すやきならぶや ひでりづゆ
