ヲチコチデ カゞミビラキヤ ツチノオト

– on January 11
– it is the day of breaking down
– the Kagami-Mochi into small pieces to eat
[鏡餅:a pair of round rice cakes
offered to deities of each family]
– traditionally, it never used to use any cutting knives
– especially at Samurai families
– then they used to use the ‘wooden mallet’
– to pulverize the hard cakes   

おちこちで かゞみびらきや つちのおと
