鰻筒干してありけり土用丑


秋村

ウナギヅゝ ホシテアリケリ ドヨウゝシ

– today is ‘Doyō no Ushi”
(The midsummer day of the ox)
– when we have the custom
– to eat split and broiled eels
– bamboo narrow cylinders
– that are the live trap for eels
– once some eel set in it
– there was no going back way
– were sunk on the bottom of the river
– are washed-up and aired now   

うなぎづゝ ほしてありけり どようゝし
