– it makes a sound

水面には手折るもえせぬ桜かな

ミナモニハ　タヲルモエセヌ　サクラカナ

– cherry flowers bloom
– and reflected in the surface of the pond
– if there is the impudent evildoers
– who try to break off the branch
– surely he would not do it on the water
– the same way as this
– it makes no sense to do in real branches

みなもには　たおるもえせぬ　さくらかな

– the center of white little flower
– becomes hollow, so we call it
– ‘flower of dimpled face’
– but it begins to scatter at the base
